Making the Squid Game: Unleashed' Mobile Game Free For Everyone

For the first time ever, Netflix will make its upcoming party royale game Squid Game: Unleashed available to everyone for a limited time, regardless if you're a Netflix member or not. The announcement was made Thursday, live at The Game Awards in Los Angeles, ahead of the game's December 17 release. Like all Netflix Games, Squid Game: Unleashed will come without any ads or in-app purchases.
Squid Game is Netflix's most watched series ever, and we want everyone around the world to be able to take part in its return by making Unleashed available to everyone, which is a first for Netflix Games, said Alain Tascan, President, Games at Netflix. Squid Game: Unleashed is all about playing with (or against) your friends in the iconic games from the series like Glass Bridge and Red Light Green Light, so we're inviting everyone into the chaos this holiday season.
New footage of Squid Game: Unleashed debuted alongside a sneak peek of Squid Game Season 2 as the series' iconic Pink Guards stormed the stage. The all-new black suited guard had a standout moment leading the rest of the guards on stage and introduced a message to The Game Awards from The Front Man himself. Squid Game Season 2 premieres Dec. 26.
Squid Game: Unleashed is the definitive Squid Game video game. Prepare for fast, heart-pounding action and brutal competition in this multiplayer battle royale game. Play with friends (or enemies) online and see if you have what it takes to outlast and defeat all the other contestants in each twisted tournament. With deadly challenges pulled from the series and more new games inspired by classic childhood activities, each round is a dark trip down memory lane. Can you make it through playtime alive? Also at The Game Awards, fans got a first look at Steel Paws, an original world by Yu Suzuki, renowned Japanese game developer best known for creating influential video game franchises like Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, and Out Run, and for his pioneering work at SEGA. In Steel Paws, embark on an adventure alongside Buddy Robots to conquer a mysterious tower that reappears every century. Master your abilities and upgrade your buddies to uncover new enemies, rewards, and endless ways to play. Steel Paws comes exclusively to Netflix in 2025.
Netflix Games offers something for everyone, just like our library of series and film. Games are included with all memberships, without ads, in-app purchases or extra fees - but Squid Game: Unleashed will not require a membership. Many are based on Netflix's hit series and films, like Emily in Paris, Too Hot to Handle, and Virgin River, and others include hits like GTA: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition, Storyteller, and Hades. The award-winning Monument Valley franchise made its return exclusively for Netflix members on December 10 with Monument Valley 3, making Netflix the only place to play all three games from the Monument Valley collection.

Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game premiered in 2021 and quickly became Netflix's most popular title ever. This global sensation boosted interest in K-content, iconic moments went viral, Vans slip-on sneakers sales increased 8,000%, and Halloween costumes sold out around the world, solidifying its place in pop culture. The series made Emmy history with first-ever wins for a non-English language series. Following this success, Netflix debuted Squid Game: The Challenge, the Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning reality series that also topped the Netflix Global Top 10. The franchise continues to expand with Squid Game: The Experience, a touring activation where fans can play series-inspired games; Squid Game: Virtuals, a Webby-winning VR adventure; and in 2024, a multiplayer video game, Squid Game: Unleashed. Squid Game season 1 is now on Netflix, with season 2 debuting on December 26 and the third and final season arriving in 2025.
