About Electric Fields
Electric Fields are the first duo to represent Australia at the song contest. The extraordinary voice of Zaachariaha Fielding and brilliance of producer and keyboardist Michael Ross unite in a way that can only be described as magic, merging traditional living culture with music that ranges from soulful pop to epic-scale electronica. From the moment their 2024 Eurovision song One Milkali (One Blood) starts it will stop you in your tracks. Zaachariaha's arresting vocals immediately command attention against a twinkling chorus of instruments as he states, I stand in the eye of the spiral, as if on the precipice of something great, because they are. One Milkali loosely translates to One Blood' and is their dream for a world where we are all united. It's a world disco in the face of the vast universe, mirroring the kinship we all share with the repeating patterns of nature.
About the Eurovision Song Contest
SBS's prime time Eurovision event kicks off with Semi Final 1 on Friday 10 May at 7:30pm AEST where Electric Fields will compete alongside 14 other countries including fellow Aussie Silia Kapsis who will be representing Cyprus with her song Liar. The Grand Final package will air Sunday 12 May at 7:30pm AEST, but don't forget you can tune in LIVE at 5am AEST from Wednesday 8 - Sunday 12 May to witness all the action as it happens in Malm
This year, although already pre-qualified for the Grand Final, the Big 5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom) will all perform in the Semi Finals. Semi Final 1 will feature performances from Olly Alexander from the UK, ISAAK from Germany, and Marcus & Martinus from Sweden, with these countries also able to vote for artists in Semi Final 1.
The voting changes that took effect last year remain, with the countries that qualify from the two Semi Finals, 10 from each, decided solely on the votes cast by viewers of the competition. Countries not taking part in the competition will be able to vote online for their favourite songs. Their votes will be added together and converted to points that will have the same weight as one participating country in both the Semi Finals and the Grand Final. Professional juries, made up of those working in the music industry, will continue to contribute to the result of the Grand Final combined with the public vote. Australia's jury will be announced soon.
