FilmLight, the leading colour grading and workflow specialist, has strengthened its sales channel in Qatar and the wider Gulf regions with the appointment of Media Group International (MGI), a leading independent media systems integrator headquartered in Doha.
The Middle East has a vibrant broadcast and post-production industry with well-established media centres and film communities across the region. The appointment of Media Group International will allow us to get closer to these communities and provide local support for local projects, said Jim Mansfield, Middle East Account manager for FilmLight. Our solutions are already used across the regions to grade TV programmes, films and commercials but this appointment further points to the significance of the Middle East region to FilmLight's future growth strategy.
At the heart of the FilmLight ethos is the ability to handle colour grading and management of the entire colour pipeline - from onsite to finishing - allowing the company to deliver unrivalled creative control, accuracy and consistency. According to Mansfield, it is this complete workflow philosophy that not only puts the control into the hands of our customers but gives them tangible returns on their investment.

MGI will distribute the entire FilmLight portfolio including the world renowned Baselight, the most powerful and advanced colour grading system available today. Baselight delivers consistent functionality and operational performance up to 4K DI and supports all industry standard digital film camera formats and the ACES workflow.
Also included in the FilmLight family are Baselight Editions, which puts the creative grading toolset inside Avid, Final Cut Pro 7 and Nuke systems; Slate, a new compact grading control panel which uses the same precision, ergonomics and reliability as the full-size Blackboard 2 panel; Baselight FLIP on-set colour grading tool and FLUX which offers user-expandable storage up to 80TB with a revolutionary media indexing system, and can stream 2K and 4K content into Baselight over dual-link 10 gigabit Ethernet.
