Beyond the Dam...

Were always looking for new travel hotspots, they are often the best places to refuel your creative outlook and provide inspiration for future work. As you can see from Nuke artist Kayley's picture postcard snaps above she has just come back from Holland and gave us the run down on why Holland isnt all about Amsterdam, coffee shops and the red light district.

For May bank holiday, myself and 14 friends took to the Dutch cycle paths for the weekend to ride through the tulip fields.

We arrived to the Hook of Holland early Friday morning and then began the 70km journey or should I say battle up the North Sea coast; us against the wind!

The entire 70km was coastal cycle path (no cars), through forests and sand dunes; it was absolutely beautiful and seemed to go on forever as there was so much to look at and take in. Ten hours after we set off, we finally made it to a little town called Zandvoort, directly west of Amsterdam where we were staying.

The following day we spent cycling around the well-known tulip fields of Keukenhof. They were in full bloom, looking like blankets of colour in every direction. It was truly a visual spectacle, not to be missed if youre a fan of colour.

Much to everyone's disbelief, Holland does in fact stretch far beyond Amsterdam. The amount of variation in the environment was so unexpected, theres so much to see and explore. I'm definitely up for another cycling trip to see what else it has to offer.

Whats more the Dutch really have the cycling thing down, I think more countries need to take a leaf out of their book!
