Uno de los Premios Emmy ha ido a parar a YouTube. Desde la fundaci n en 2005, la popular plataforma de distribuci n de v deos ha permitido que millones de personas accedan a m s de 6 millones de horas de video. Cada minuto, se suben a YouTube m s de cien horas 100 de v deo en todo el mundo. Para hacer frente a este reto fundamental de ingenier a, el equipo de YouTube ha creado nuevas e innovadoras formas de ingestar, transcodificar a diferentes latencias, almacenar, gestionar y entregar todo tipo de contenidos. Pero YouTube no es s lo v deo grabado, sino que s lo en el ltimo a o su plataforma live a dado cobertura a m s de 1.200 eventos, destacando los Juegos Ol mpicos de 2012 o las m s de 8 millones de descargas simult neas durante la misi n Red Bull Stratos.
Por otro lado, tambi n ha recibido un Emmy la tecnolog a FASP desarrollada por Aspera que permite la transferencia de alta velocidad y sincronizaci n de datos de media basados en archivos con una completa visibilidad, seguimiento, control de ancho de banda y seguridad de extremo a extremo.
Tambi n ha sido merecedora de un Emmy la plataforma Digital Dailies, impulsada por Josh C. Kline y que ha permitido la distribuci n inmediata de dailies en nube de forma fiable segura, r pida y a bajo coste. Esta nueva forma de entregar dailies desde el propio set de rodaje a postproducci n, permite mediante el uso de metadatos, aprobar y anotar comentarios con precisi n de fotograma.
Otro de los Emmy ha ido a parar a la tecnolog a para restauraci n de audio iZotope RX Audio. Este software de procesamiento de audio avanzado permite rescatar audio previamente inservible o arruinado. Esta soluci n permite eliminar y reducir problemas comunes como chasquidos, clics, zumbidos y ruidos. Se puede reparar audio distorsionado o recortado, eliminar los molestos pops , golpes, grillos o p jaros, por mencionar s lo algunos.
Hollywood ha querido tambi n reconocer el trabajo desarrollado por Lightcraft Technology en el desarrollo de estudios virtuales.
Lawo, pionera en el uso del protocolo ATM/SDH (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) destinado a distribuir audio sobre redes WAN a ubicaciones a miles de kil metros y la aplicaci n para guionistas Final Draft tambi n han visto recompensado su esfuerzo tecnol gico con un Emmy.
En su 65 edici n, la Academia tambi n ha reconocido a Charles F. Jenkins con el Lifetime Achievement Award por impulsar la industria de la televisi n en cuanto a ingesta y archivo. Cookson ha realizado una labor pionera en el movimiento los procesos de producci n de lo anal gico a lo digital, los m todos de transporte de datos de alta calidad en un medio ptico, el desarrollo de m todos innovadores para la restauraci n de pel culas de archivo, y el desarrollo de extremo a extremo de flujos de trabajo digitales.
Este a o cabo destacar que Sennheiser ha recibido por segunda ocasi n un Premio Emmy a la ingenier a. Este Emmy, bajo la denominaci n Philo T. Farnsworth Award (en homenaje al inventor de la televisi n electr nica), se cre en 2003 para premiar aquellos aportes tecnol gicos que hayan impactado significativamente en televisi n.
