Ross Video, the Magic Behind this Year's Golden Melody Awards

Company delivers unparalleled audience experience at must attend Chinese music festival Thursday, July 27th, 2017 [Taipei, Taiwan] Golden Melody Awards (GMA), spotlighting the best of Chinese popular music, certainly did not disappoint this past June 24th. This year's GMA served up a captivating audience experience with rich visual effects and the largest award ceremony stage ever hosted at the Taipei Arena with multiple Augmented Reality (AR) sets. With 3,270 LED panels and a total area of 800 square meters, it was appropriately named the Infinity stage and provided the perfect back drop for this premiere Chinese music event and festival.

Ross Video supplied the video production equipment and team to ERA TV for producing this captivating live production, much to the delight of around 135,000 live attendees and around 3.57 million remote viewers. A key element was the use of a Furio Live remote robotic camera system on a track to provide smooth, up close angles without disrupting the viewer experience. Taiwan Television (TTV) deployed 28 cameras, 3 outside broadcasting vans, and 3 SNG vans, to capture the live broadcast of GMA's Walk of Fame and Award Ceremony.

The sophisticated scenes using augmented reality courtesy of Ross Video, delivered the preludes to 7 award-winning performances, delighting the audience with a rich visual display, stated Leo Hsu, 3aqua Entertainment. We wished to bring a more impactful look to the production. By using the Ultrix MultiViewer capabilities, XPression systems for graphics, and the UX application to manage the tracking between the movement of the Furio robotic system and the virtual graphic elements, this year we offered fans a new level of creativity with the Ross solution.

The 28th Golden Melody Awards were held on June 24th, 2017 at the Taipei Arena with audiences around the world able to enjoy this Taiwanese pop music festival via live broadcast or syndication. The GMA Walk of Fame and Award Ceremony were broadcast live by Taiwan Television (TTV), with simultaneous broadcasts available on services such as TOUCH TTV, YouTube-TTV, Chunghwa Telecom MOD, chtvideo app, HamiConcert, UFO Radio, China Tencent Video, Singapore Starhub, Malaysia Astro and USA Echostar. Syndication is also available on TTV, TTV HD, Unique Satellite TV (USTV), USTV Business.
