Dalet Onecut is a real-time multimedia editor developed for fast-paced content production. Unlike craft editing applications, Onecut is designed to enable just about any person working in a broadcast setting to create high-quality content quickly. Its simple-to-use tools promote collaborative editing across production workgroups, eliminating the need to wait for edit bays or tie up expensive craft editing systems. Fully integrated into the workflow, Onecut seamlessly exchanges information with craft editing applications, ensuring work in progress and packages are always in sync.
Because the powerful editing platform was developed from the ground up to address the multimedia needs of radio, TV, Internet and mobile content production, Onecut supports many workflows and hence many broadcast environments. The initial version of Dalet Onecut focused on audio production and was very well received with more than 5,000 active users. The second generation of Onecut, released in late 2013, added video editing capability.
What unique benefits does Dalet Onecut bring to the user and the organization?
Dalet Onecut is intuitive, fast and easy to use for news and sports production, MAM and compliance video editing, promo production, logging, and radio editing in fast-paced settings. Training time is minimal, even for inexperienced staff.
Its full-featured with all the essential tools and functions, including multi-track audio editing and video editing with the most commonly used special effects.
Advanced logging capabilities provide metadata continuity. Users can add locators with fully customizable data models. Locators can be descriptive or can contain QC or TX information or valuable information such as broadcast rights. But most importantly, those locators are maintained throughout the editing process thanks to genealogy management.
Multi-level workspace customization empowers users. Dalet Onecut is built on the principles of user accessibility and can be configured to accommodate many different skillsets. For instance, the workspace can be configured to show only very basic functions for novice editors who perform simple tasks such as fast news editing or voice-over recording. They wont be overwhelmed with the more sophisticated options. For expert editors engaged in more creative editing, its possible to expose more menus and intricate features and effects. Onecut comes with four different default workspaces:
o Simple with the minimum set of functions for users with minimal experience in video editing
o Advanced with the complete set of functions for expert users. This workspace can be tailored to the user or specific tasks.
o Radio workspace for audio editing only (no video tracks)
o A logging workspace to speed pre-production and metadata entry
Customizable layouts and templates for specific workflows make it appropriate for many different tasks. The workspace can be configured to display only the tools needed for particular tasks such as logging, audio dubbing, compliance editing, video trimming or manipulating audio tracks. Theres no distraction from tools, buttons and menus not related to the task and hand.
Comprehensive codec support makes it easy to work with multiple tracks, mixed formats, real-time transitions and much more.
Powerful audio multi-track editing capabilities with support for VST plugins
Can be used in different modes including standalone mode, connected mode, which allows users to access the Dalet content catalogue and download content from the catalogue locally, and a fully integrated mode where Onecut works within the MAM framework.
Creates collaborative, faster production
o Onecut supports edit while recording. When working in connected or integrated modes, users can share edits, EDLs and clipbins. Editing can be done on proxies with media operations such as rendering and conformation performed by the MAM back-office media servers. The editor is focused on creative tasks and not wasting time on technical tasks.
o Save to placeholder function fosters collaboration between editorial teams and content producers.
o Integration with industry-standard editing applications from Adobe, Avid, Apple and Quantel ensures a fluid workflow with work in progress and finished packages always in sync.
The power, flexibility, affordability and ease of use of Dalet Onecut make it a unique, standout product. This single editing platform perfectly suits a broad range of multimedia production tasks and allows broadcasters to standardize the toolsets used for many editing functions across their organizations. Dalet Onecut provides tangible benefits that can be measured in terms of improved productivity with wider access to content through user-friendly tools; expanded creativity with multiple resources collaborating on content production; and accelerated workflow through a much more efficient production chain.
