Mandela film chosen for Royal Performance --

In a first for a South African movie, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom has been selected as the 2013 Royal Film Performance, which takes place on Thursday 5 December in London.
The producer of the movie, Anant Singh, announced: We are thrilled that Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom has been selected for the official Royal Film Performance this year. This prestigious endorsement of the film recognises the impact of Madiba and his status as a global icon, particularly in the United Kingdom.
Members of the royal family, cast and filmmakers will attend the British premiere at Odeon Leicester Square.
The movie celebrates Nelson Mandela s extraordinary journey from his childhood in a rural village to his election as President of South Africa.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom releases nationally in South Africa on 28 November through United International Pictures.
An Anant Singh presentation of a Videovision Entertainment production in association with Distant Horizon, Origin Pictures, Pathe, the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa and the National Empowerment Fund, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is directed by Britain s Justin Chadwick.
The movie stars Idris Elba, Naomie Harris, Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Terry Pheto, Jamie Bartlett and Deon Lotz.

The Royal Film Performance is the main fundraising event of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF), the trade charity for the UK film and television industries with Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II as patron. The Royal Film Performance is traditionally attended by members of the royal family.
