Sony plans a turnaround with high-definition television --

--
After Sony posted a US$1.26bn annual loss, Chief Executive, Kazuo Hirai unveiled a new turnaround strategy which includes sturdy sales of 2K and 4K high-resolution televisions.
Appointed in 2012 to revive the company, Hirai focused much of his attention on transforming a struggling consumer electronics business, which includes a sinking television unit.
Hirai insists that the television unit remains central to Sonys business and said customers could expect a strong product line-up for 2014. He added, In terms of products, high-end 4K sets and high-end 2K products are popular.
With better profit margins than lower-end models, 2K and 4K high-resolution televisions offer users the highest definition available, which is much sharper than current models.
Hirai concluded, We will complete the structural reform of our electronics business between now and March next year, in order to move Sony onto a high-profitability structure and deliver sustained growth.
