In order to engage today's sports fan, broadcasters are upping the on-screen ante by incorporating more dynamic, data-driven, real-time graphics for both game coverage and studio content. Ventuz has proven to be a major tool in order to do this, providing a a node-based production and design environment for creating not only broadcast graphics, but also video wall content for sports arenas and corporate displays.
The company was founded more than two decades ago by professionals from VFX and real-time graphics backgrounds, with a strong focus on integrating external data into graphics. Today, the Ventuz platform acts like a modern 2D 3D creative application with standard workflows such as real-time 3D graphics, particles, 2D and 3D compositing and post-processing or linear and non-linear animations. On top of that, there are tons of features and workflows that elevate it beyond that to a unique combination: toolsets for interactivity, synchronization between multiple computers, realtime data connectivity, projection mapping, integration into broadcast studios and workflows, powerful logic frameworks, APIs, and many more.
SVG sat down with David Paniego, Product Marketing Manager, Ventuz to discuss the company's role in real-time graphics for live sports and studios broadcasts. He also touches on the significant growth opportunities in sports broadcasting and venue graphics, the increasing synergy between broadcast graphics and in-venue displays, the recently released Ventuz 8 software (featuring enhanced HDR production, improved productivity tools, and expanded support for video formats), Ventuz's cloud-based operation on AWS that allows customers to run real-time graphics in the cloud, and the platform's expanded streaming capabilities (with SRT support, continued NDI integration, and 2110 video-over-IP solutions to align with industry trends).
