Samsung Electronics today unveiled an impressively large collection of new TV and home entertainment products at its 2014 Samsung European Forum in Malaga, Spain. Samsung showcased the world's first and largest Curved UHD TV and announced a full line-up of curved and UHD TVs.
Additionally, Samsung displayed an expanded line of audio products. The full portfolio is designed to elevate the entertainment experience throughout the home and reinforces Samsung's ability to set the industry pace for innovation, design and content.
We're excited to bring Samsung's ultimate immersive experience with our new lineup of UHD TVs to UK consumers, said Guy Kinnell, Head of TV and AV at Samsung Electronic UK & Ireland. These new TVs, together with our innovative new audio products, truly take the home entertainment experience to the next level.
Ahead of the Curve in Creating the Ultimate Immersive Experience
Ushering in a bold new era of riveting realism and mesmerising immersion, Samsung is blending its innovative Curved form factor with its UHD TV technology. The curved screen gives videos a presence not felt on flat screens, plus a wider field of view creates a panoramic effect that makes the display seem even bigger than it is and draws viewers in like no TV has ever done before.
The curved design creates a balanced and uniformed viewing distance for a more true-to-life viewing experience with improved viewing angles and higher contrast from different viewing positions, so everyone watching has the best seat in the house.
To maximise the advantages of Curved TV, Samsung developed the optimal curvature of 4200R, which provides the best picture quality from a normal watching distance of 3 metres to 4 metres. The combination of the curve and UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive viewing experience, bringing images to life and enveloping viewers in spectacular colour, clarity and detail. This is augmented by Samsung's proprietary Auto Depth Enhancer, an algorithm that analyses regions of images and automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth on the company's new Curved TVs and it gives a 3D effect without glasses.
Colour is further enhanced on these sets with Samsung's PurColour technology in the U8500 Curved UHD TVs, which reproduces colour as film-makers envisioned, expressing more detailed shades. The number of colour adjustment points has been increased by a factor of seven for even more detail and colour expression.
In Europe, Samsung is introducing Curved UHD TVs available in 105-inches, 78-inches, 65-inches and 55-inches.
Better and Broader Samsung UHD TV Lineup and Ecosystem for Ultimate Picture Today and Tomorrow
UHD sources look spectacular in crisp UHD resolution on Samsung UHD TVs. Thanks to UHD Upscaling featured on all Samsung UHD TVs, viewers are treated to the best possible picture regardless of source material. The proprietary technology converts Full HD, HD and lower resolution sources to nearly-UHD picture quality. UHD Dimming technology also helps to further optimise picture quality by processing each block of a picture and delivering deeper blacks and improved contrast.
As the category leader, Samsung is making significant investments and establishing critical partnerships to invigorate the market and expedite the delivery of a UHD ecosystem to consumers.
This spring, Samsung will release a UHD Video Pack that will come pre-loaded with UHD-quality content, including feature films from FOX and Paramount Pictures on a one Terrabyte hard disk.
At the same time, Samsung supports all of the latest UHD TV standards-including HEVC, HDMI 2.0, MHL 3.0 and HDCP 2.2-in an effort to build a holistic UHD ecosystem with premier content partners. Samsung UHD TVs are also the only TVs on the market that are future-ready due to the Samsung UHD Evolution Kit. In fact, in the industry, only Samsung UHD TVs are PrimePass certified, which means consumers can be confident about enjoying the new detail and picture quality of this next-generation TV technology.
Through its three UHD TV series - S9, U8550 and U7500 - in 2014 Samsung will offer a full line-up of UHD TV models in sizes from 48-inches up to a tremendous 110-inches, and both curved and flat form factors, so consumers can choose the UHD TV that best fits their lifestyle.
Smart Experience: Now Smarter, Easier and Faster than Ever
Samsung's Smart TV is even easier, faster and more fun to use now. The new Multi-Link feature brings contextual multitasking to the big screen, enabling people to go deeper into their entertainment by splitting the screen to bring up related content to enhance the viewing experience. While enjoying Live TV, consumers can populate a right-hand screen with contextual search results on the Web browser, relevant YouTube video content and more for side-by-side enjoyment of related entertainment and information streams.
And Samsung's support for multitasking does not stop there. The new Twin Tuner feature allows people to enjoy two different live TV programmes simultaneously. Even recording scenarios are expanded, as they can now record two channels while watching one, or watch two things at the same time.
The 2014 Samsung Smart Hub is more intuitive and even more enjoyable. With the new design, content is organised to be more easily accessible, giving people more control of their entertainment experience. The new Football Mode provides advanced features specifically for a more enjoyable football-watching experience. Optimised picture and sound quality for football as well as new functionalities such as zoom-in and auto and manual highlight bring viewers even closer to the action and PVR replay can play and record live matches simultaneously. Plus, it will automatically select the best scenes of the match for instant replay or match catch u
