Sundance Institute and the Metroplex Proudly Present Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong From Sept 7 - 7, 05

-- (Hong Kong - 10 September, 2015) With last year's success of the Sundance Film Festival - Hong Kong Selects, Sundance Institute and The Metroplex will present the 2015 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong from September 17 to 27, hosting the Hong Kong premieres of 11 quality independent films featured in the 2015 Sundance Film Festival at Park City, Utah, U.S.A.

Films include: Advantageous; Cartel Land; Dope; James White; Me and Earl and the Dying Girl; People, Places, Things; Songs My Brothers Taught Me; The End of the Tour; The Stanford Prison Experiment; The Witch and The Wolfpack. Last year, the Festival presented a wide range of films, including Whiplash, which later received five Academy Award nominations, winning three.

There will also be an exhibition of the Sundance Film Festival at the Atrium of E-Max showcasing the rich history and achievements of the Festival. The exhibition will take place from September 11, 2015 to September 24, 2015.

Meet the Filmmakers, Hear their stories The festival opens to the public on September 18 with one of this year's most talked about documentaries The Wolfpack. The U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Documentary winner is about the true story of six brothers locked away from society in a Manhattan apartment who found a window to the outside through film. Director Crystal Moselle will be present for the Q&A after the screening.

Other filmmakers and artists attending the 2015 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong include Jennifer Phang (Director, Advantageous), Matthew Heineman (Director, Cartel Land), Rick Famuyiwa (Director, Dope), Josh Mond (Director, James White), Jim Strouse (Director, People, Places, Things), Peter Golub (Director, Sundance Institute Film Music Program and Composer, Songs My Brothers Taught Me),Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment) and Michael Chow (Executive Producer, Dope and Songs My Brothers Taught Me). Robert Eggers (The Witch) will be cancelling his trip to Hong Kong and Q&A session due to unforeseen changes in his schedule.

Filmmaker's Panel Discussion An in-depth session with all the filmmakers to understand their film-making journey In addition to post-screening Q&As, indie-film-lovers can also join the Filmmakers Panel Discussion, taking this rare opportunity to meet a panel of visiting filmmakers as they share stories of making their films. The panel discussion will be held on 19 September, Saturday, 4pm at The Metroplex, moderated by Trevor Groth (Director of Programming, Sundance Film Festival). Film Music Day Lab Learn More About Music Composition for Film and Television from Renowned Composers An exciting new element of this year's Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong is the Film Music Day Lab. This one-day workshop is a condensed version of Sundance Institute's intensive annual Music and Sound Design Lab and will provide a full day of knowledge sharing to filmmakers, music composers and audiences interested in music for film and television.

The Day Lab will be led by composer and Director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program Peter Golub (The Great Debaters, Frozen River) and feature presentations by composers George Clinton (Austin Powers, Wild Things) and Peter Kam (The Warlords, Helios), as well as a demonstration showcasing film music works selected by the Sundance Institute Film Music Program. Upon completing the Day Lab, each participant will be awarded a certificate of attendance co-issued by Sundance Institute and The Metroplex. Interested parties can register online via hk.sundance.org with an admission fee of HKD 150 per person.
