Thales Ang nieux's first official partnership with the largest film festival in the world was marked by several moments of great emotion.

On May 24, a special tribute evening was held in honour of cinematographer Philippe Rousselot who was awarded the first "Pierre Ang nieux Excellens in Cinematography", in the company of Thierry Fr maux General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Eric Garandeau Chairman of CNC (French National Center of Cinematography) and Pierre Andurand, President and CEO of Thales Angenieux.

Many celebrities from the world of film who have worked with Philippe Rousselot also came to pay homage. These included Kristin Scott Thomas (Random Hearts), Victoria Abril (The Moon in the Gutter), Carmen Chaplin (The Serpents Kiss) and Jean-Marc Barr and director John Boorman (both for Hope and Glory). Through Philippe Rousselot, Thales Angenieux has sought to pay tribute to the whole profession of director of photography. These are the cinematographers who through their technical and artistic standards have made the success of Ang nieux zoom lenses. They are the people who, by the quality of their work, exactly translate into images the desires of the director. They are the people without whom there would be no movie.

The Salle Bazin erupted when Philippe Rousselot, who was visibly moved, received his award from the hands of Pierre Andurand.The trophy, an Angenieux Optimo 28-76 zoom, one of his personal favorites, specially engraved with his name at the Thales Angenieux workshops in Saint-H and. The Festival ended in beauty on Sunday evening for Thales Ang nieux, with awards presented by the jury - chaired this year by Steven Spielberg - to several movies shot with the company's zooms. These notably included Abdellatif Kechiche's Blue is the warmest colour' (Director of Photography Sofian El Fani), which won the Palme dOr, and Inside Llewyn Davis' by Joel and Ethan Coen (cinematography by Bruno Delbonnel), which was presented with the Grand Prix du Festival.
