Dante's Inferno Will Rage At NAB 2015

Glensound's all new commentary box for Dante audio networks, the Inferno, will be on show at NAB 2015.

Glensound have long been the firm favourite for all issues commentary for many, many years. They were first with 2 part analogue coaxial commentary systems, first with the digital 2 part commentary system, and now they are first with the network audio commentary system. The Inferno is Glensound's 28th commentary offering, further cementing the world's largest and most impressive range of commentary equipment.

At last year's major sporting events, Glensound was the leading commentary system in use. At the football in Brazil, at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and at many other tournaments around the world, Glensound was the commentary standard.

The new Inferno is a single user commentary box that can be used on its own, or networked in multiples for a multi user system. It has 7 inputs for headphone monitoring and 8 audio outputs a programme out of the main mic plus 7 talkback outputs. The routing of this I/O is all controlled by the free Dante Controller software, allowing seamless point to point and point to multi point routing within a Dante network. All routes are stored locally on the Inferno whenever a change is made, so Dante Controller is only needed for making changes. Audio is uncompressed and at super low latency levels.

The Inferno is also a highly resilient unit offering network connections on CAT5 (with a main and redundant), on fibre (with a main and redundant), and powering via mains AC, external DC, or via the CAT5 connection via PoE. The Inferno is very tough and very flexible.

The initial interest in the Inferno from broadcasters around the world looks set to make it a classic commentary unit. Glensound's Sales & Marketing Manager Marc Wilson is excited at the prospects ahead, When we decided to develop a network based commentary system on the Dante platform, we thought it would be well received. We had no idea quite how ready the broadcast world was to start embracing this new audio technology. Being able to have a genuine commentary system from Glensound, which a broadcaster can just incorporate with other Dante technologies, is certainly looking a big attraction for them.
