OSCAR EFFECT INSPIRES INTEREST IN BEST ACTRE MOVIE PAST

Jennifer Lawrence's celebrated Oscar-winning performance in Silver Linings Playbook, which saw her win Best Actress at last Sunday's Academy Awards, has prompted renewed interest in her previous films with requests for Jennifer Lawrence titles increasing by as much as 275 per cent on some individual titles in the past three days.

According to LOVEFiLM Europe's largest subscription service instantly streaming films and TV series over the internet and sending DVDs and games by post Jennifer Lawrence films are experiencing an Oscar Effect' with rental requests soaring for titles including romantic ensemble The Burning Plain (up 275 per cent) and gritty indie film Winter's Bone (up 258 per cent), for which Lawrence was Oscar nominated in 2011.

Other Jennifer Lawrence movies experiencing an increase in demand include The Beaver directed by Jodie Foster (up 43 per cent), young love story Like Crazy (up 29 per cent) and renowned science fiction drama The Hunger Games (up 24 per cent).

Silver Linings Playbook, the film which has catapulted Lawrence into stardom, has also experienced an impressive increase in reserve list requests in anticipation of its release, and is set to be one of the stand-out films of 2013.

Lawrence is not alone in enjoying this renewed flurry of interest with record-breaking Best Actor winner Daniel Day-Lewis' previous films also experiencing significant increases.

Requests for Britain's favourite method actor's catalogue rocketed, including American oil epic There Will Be Blood (up 321 per cent), comedy My Beautiful Laundrette (up 250 per cent) and classic remake The Crucible (up 212 per cent).

Movie fans are also enjoying an instant fix of Day-Lewis since the Oscars, with a streaming increase of 23 per cent on There Will Be Blood and a 17 per cent increase of instant views of My Left Foot.

10. Ballad Of Jack And Rose (2005) 80% increase

11. The Age Of Innocence (1993) 73% increase
