SoCal Connected Wins Five Emmys

KCETS SOCAL CONNECTED WINS FIVE STATUETTES AT

62nd LOS ANGELES AREA EMMY AWARDS

Los Angeles - August 1, 2010 - SoCal Connected, KCETs hard-hitting weekly news program, won in five of the six categories in which it was nominated at the 62nd Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, taking honors in information segment for A Soldiers Story, feature for The Year of Living Dangerously, crime and social issues for Cannabis Cowboys, plus best photographer and best writer. SoCal Connected returns for its third season in October.

The SoCal Connected team is honored to be recognized by our colleagues with five wins, said Bret Marcus, executive producer of SoCal Connected and KCET senior vice president of programming and production. SoCal Connected is committed to informing viewers about issues that make a difference in their lives and impact public policy.

SoCal Connected was the first to report on the proliferation of medical marijuana clinics and its exclusive investigation of inaccurate flood designations by FEMA led to the government agencys correction of the discrepancy.

In its first two seasons SoCal Connected, KCETs signature news program, has won 11 Emmys, the Peabody Award, eight Golden Mikes, including Best News Public Affairs Show, 18 LA Press Club awards for journalism and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Documentary. SoCal Connected airs Thursdays (8:00 - 8:30 p.m.) and Fridays (8:30 - 9:00 p.m.) exclusively on KCET.
