BBC Studios and Post Production transform Elstree Studio D for Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes 16 February 2015

BBC Studios and Post Production has provided full studio facilities and production support at BBC Elstree for Initial's (part of Endemol Shine Group) remake of the popular ITV talent show, Stars in Their Eyes, this time hosted by Harry Hill.
Following its iconic 16-series run from 1990 until 2006, the modern revival of the 90s Saturday night entertainment show made its debut in January 2015 on ITV. Adopting a parody style and a new presenter, award-winning comedian Harry Hill, viewers had plenty of laughs enjoying impersonations of the biggest names in music from members of the public.
Not straying far from the show's original format, each contestant was introduced in their own comical VT, before giving Harry a selection of clues of their chosen alter ego. They then muttered the famous catchphrase Tonight Harry, I'm going to be before walking through the smokey doors to emerge transformed as their favourite singer and gave a once in a lifetime performance for audience votes. The finalist of each show qualifies for the Not Live' grand finale to battle it out to be crowned Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes Champion 2015.
Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes was housed in BBC Studios and Post Production's 11,200 sq ft Studio D at BBC Elstree. Full production facilities and support were provided, including sound and lighting galleries equipped with the latest HD technology. Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes also made full use of the range of on-site facilities including green rooms, contestant rehearsal rooms and dressing rooms, along with multi-purpose production offices. A second studio was also provided for costume storage and the creation and storage of Harry Hill's props that are used in a number of sketches on the show.
The production also used a multi-camera set-up, featuring a Radio Steadicam, a Jib, three Peds and three handheld cameras, one locked-off camera, whilst the famous doors used LED panels that were fed via a Hippotiser.
Initial's Head of Production Sandra Smith said: "Having worked with the BBC Studios and Post Production team before, we returned to Elstree with confidence in their technical know-how and facilities that we needed to bring Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes to life.
Meryl McLaren, Commercial Manager at BBC Studios and Post Production, said: We're delighted that Harry Hill's Stars in Their Eyes has come to Elstree and joins an extensive list of primetime entertainment shows including The Voice and Tumble that have successfully been delivered from the site.

Its Digital Media Services team operates from a permanent, purpose-built facility at Odyssey Business Park, South Ruislip.
