iNumber Number and Hard to Get to screen at Mangaung African Cultural Festival (Macufe) 2014

06 October 2014: The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is this year taking the best of South African films and talent to Macufe. The NFVF's participation commences tomorrow 07th October 2014 with the screening of iNumber Number at 7pm, NuMetro, Waterfall Mall. This will be the fourth year the NFVF participates at the festival, hosting film workshops and screening local films for FREE.

The initiative is a partnership between the NFVF, the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation and Macufe, held with the aim of creating film appreciation in Bloemfontein and surrounding areas. Since its first installment at the festival the NFVF participation has resulted in positive outcomes in the area, and some of the participants have worked with renowned directors including Vincent Moloi from PuoPha productions. This year the NFVF aims to inspire more youth to tell their own stories the best way they can.

The 2014 trainers and talent include Kenneth Nkosi (White Wedding, How to Steal 2 Million), Israel Makoe (iNumber Number, Hard to Get), Mamello Lebona and Simon Makwela, who will also provide workshops on How To Enter the Film Industry, Pitching, Performance as well as Script Writing. Audiences can look forward to FREE Screenings of the following local movies, Four Corners (Wednesday 08th 4:30pm) Pad na Jou Hart (Thursday 09th 4:30pm), Hard to Get (Friday 10th 5pm) and the opening film iNumber Number which screens tomorrow Tuesday 07th from 7pm. The NFVF programme will take place at the NuMetro Waterfall from 09am.

iNumber Number:

When honest undercover cop Chili Ngcobo and his by-the-book partner, Sello Shoes' Moshoeshoe, are cheated out of a large reward by their corrupt superiors, Chili finds another way of getting the money he feels they deserve. Chili penetrates a cash-in-transit heist gang, and instead of busting them, convinces his partner to participate in a once off score.

iNumber Number is about a pair of cops battling corrupt colleagues as well as a gang of armoured-car thieves. Starring Israel Makoe, Presley Chweneyagae, Sdumo Mtshali, and written and directed by Donovan Marsh.

Pad na Jou Hart

When the attractive and overly confidant businessman Basson van Rensburg's (Ivan Botha) father, van Rensburg Senior (Marius Weyers), passes away, he has five days to make it to the funeral. Starring: Ivan Botha, Marius Weyers, Donnalee Roberts

Four Corners

Set in the Cape ganglands, this coming-of-age crime thriller tells the story of a young chess prodigy who must defy the odds and stay one move ahead of the gangs in a game where winning or losing can mean the difference between life and death. The film plays out aspects of the war fought and reported daily on the streets of the Cape Flats, home to the Number Gang factions in the ghetto dune area outside Cape Town. Starring: Lindiwe Matshikiza, Brendon Daniels, Irshaad Ally, Jezriel Skei and directed by Ian Gabriel.

Hard to Get

A love story set in Johannesburgs crime underworld, directed by first-time feature director Zee Ntuli and produced by Junaid Ahmed and Helena Spring, the film tells the story of TK, a handsome young womaniser from a small community who falls for a sexy, reckless thief nicknamed Skiets. Thrust into the big citys underworld, TK decides his best bet is to trust Skiets - and hang on for dear life. Starring Pallance Dladla, Israel Makoe, and Thishiwe Ziqubu.
