Seven months after the Oscars slap, actor Will Smith has shared the trailer for his upcoming film, Emancipation. Taking to Instagram on Monday 3 October, the actor dubbed it the hardest movie he has ever made. Although he is banned from attending an Oscars ceremony, Smith could still be considered for an award.

WILL SMITH RELEASES EMANCIPATION' TRAILER Emancipation follows a runaway slave (played by Will Smith) who goes through a treacherous journey to escape the slave owners who almost killed him. The film also stars Ben Foster, Steven Ogg, Mustafa Shakir, Charmaine Bingwa, Grant Harvey and Ronnie Gene Blevins.

In a report published by Variety in July, it was reported that Will Smith was Hollywood's second-highest earner due to Emancipation. It was reported that the 54-year-old would be making $35 million (R601 million) from the film.

The film is set to be released on 2 December.

WILL SMITH IS STILL ELIGIBLE FOR AN OSCAR AWARD After THAT Oscars slap, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ruled that Will Smith was banned from attending the Oscars for the next 10 years. Luckily for him, he was allowed to keep his Best Actor Award for his King Richard role.

According to Variety, Will Smith is still eligible for an Oscar Award but should he win, he will not be allowed to pick up the award in person.
