Celebro Media Studios, the UK's first fully 4K TV studio, has partnered with Streambox, provider of solutions that enable mobile video anywhere, to debut the first live broadcast in Ultra HD 4K resolution from the UK.
The content of the broadcast consisted of a series of news style pilots. We presented a short bulletin as well as a two-way discussion with a reporter from another studio', explained Wesley Dodd, CEO of Celebro Media.
Celebro Media Studios is the UK's first fully 4K TV studio. Based in Central London, it provides news and live TV facilities to broadcasters who need cost effective, highly automated and resilient solutions and is now offering uplinks using Streambox technology.
Speaking on the partnership, Dodd said: We have been working with Streambox for a few years, having first implemented their technology for a project with the BBC World Service today's trial was an opportunity for us to witness their unique new 4K technology. We have the UK's first 4K TV facility so Streambox offers the only practical solution for us to get our content out of the building to our clients in 4K. The results are mind blowing.
The new Streambox 4K Software Encoder/Player, coupled with the new 4K Rackmount Encoder/Decoder with simplified workflows, allow 4K realtime transmissions in an easy function for streaming, broadcasting, post production and live events.
The demo included capture, encoding, delivery and playout of live streaming with a dedicated single-link 6G-SDI signal through the 4K Rackmount encoder, transmitting to Streambox Live Service, via public internet to a Streambox 4K Rackmount decoder. The second workflow included streaming with a dedicated single-link 6G-SDI signal from the 4K software encoder, using public internet, into the Streambox 4K Rackmount decoder. Both tests were successful using Blackmagic and Red ONE cameras.
The Streambox ACT-L3 4K encoder is an adaptive bitrate encoder capable of encoding full resolution 3840 x 2160 UHD or 4096 2160 4K Cinema DCI 23.98, 24, 29.97 and 30 fps 4K videos from 4 Mbps up to 50 Mbps in realtime with currently available video equipment.
