IBC: THE 13TH VENUE - 14/06/2014 With all the action starting to begin at the 12 venues around Brazil it can be easy to forget that a large percentage of MRLs covering the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will spend the duration of the event at the International Broadcast Centre (IBC). So how do they follow the games and enjoy that magic FIFA World Cup atmosphere?
The answer to that question is the IBC Viewing Area. Located between Halls 3 and 4, the IBC Viewing Area is equipped with two large screens, seating for 60 and standing room for many more. For each match MRLs and supporters of the competing nations who are working at the IBC have congregated around the screens, with the cheers of joy and cries of despair echoing around the Halls of the IBC as if it were one of the competing venues.
For each match receivers are provided at the Broadcast Information Office (BIO) in Hall 4. These can be used to listen to either the Television International Soundtrack (TVIS) for authentic stadium atmosphere, English commentary or commentary in the native language of the two teams playing.
