This Morning launch nationwide hunt for new novelist

On Tuesday 4 November, Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden will launch a nationwide search to find the next potential writing star as part of a new exciting This Morning competition, BE A BEST SELLER'.

A place on one of UK's most successful writing courses and representation of the winning novel from a leading literary agency will be up for grabs for one lucky viewer during a search to find Britain's best new novelist.

This Morning viewers will need to impress three judges; international-bestselling author Marian Keyes, book lover and panelist on The TV Book Club Caroline Quentin, and literary agent Jonny Geller from literary and talent agency Curtis Brown. The judges will begin their search by asking for amateur novelists to send in a maximum of up to 3,000 words from their novel. Full details, including how to enter, can be seen on ITV's This Morning programme on Tuesday 4 November. Viewers keen to take up the challenge will then have until midday on the 14 November to apply before the team read all the applications. A shortlist of up to 10 will be put up in front of the judging panel, and the judges will select up to five who will be invited to the live studio final on 27 November where the winner - who will win a free place on a Curtis Brown Creative six month novel-writing course and gain representation from Curtis Brown for their winning novel - will be announced.

Marian Keyes said, I remember well the fear and trepidation of sending my first novel to an agent and publisher. I cant wait to read the novels that come in to the competition I hope it'll be like delving in a treasure chest.

Caroline Quentin said, I'm excited to be part of the competition. I adore books and reading, and can't wait to join the panel.

Jonny Geller added, We are hugely excited to be involved in this nationwide hunt. This country boasts some of the finest storytellers in the world and with the help of This Morning, the judges, our Creative Writing School and the agents at Curtis Brown, we hope to discover the next generation of British literary talent.

Also during November, This Morning will continue to celebrate book month and much-loved authors by broadcasting a new series called MY FAVOURITE BOOK' where a host of celebrities each week will talk about their favourites from a location connected to it. The first episode will see Emilia Fox visit Cornwall to celebrate author Daphne Du Maurier and her best selling book Rebecca.

This Morning's Editor, Pete Ogden said, As the nights get darker it's the perfect time to settle down with a good book and we will be celebrating some of the best throughout the month as well as giving our viewers the opportunity of a lifetime to write their own future classic.
