Bulls Wrap Up Home Season, Look Toward Play-Offs

The Durham Bulls play their last home game today, Tuesday, August 27, 2013, but their baseball playing for this year is far from over. After wrapping up the last homestand against the Charlotte Knights at 7:05pm today, the Bulls travel first to Georgia and then to Norfolk where they'll end the season against the Tides on Labor Day.

And then it's back to Durham for the start of the Governor's Cup Playoffs on Wednesday, Sept 4th. The Bulls clinched the South Division Championship before the season even ended, their sixth International League South Division title in seven years.

Capcom talked to two CBC'ers who got a chance to go to the ballpark this year. They shared their Bulls experiences this season:

My husband Mike and I love to go to the Bulls games! We end up getting tickets for 3 to 4 games a season. Every time we have gone this year, the weather has been perfect! The DBAP is such a beautiful and intimate facility, and we have great seats right near third base.

We enjoy watching the Bulls win but also love the atmosphere -- the music to get the crowd energized, the fun contests, Wool E. Bulls race around the bases with a cute kid, and the delicious and reasonably-priced concessions!

It all adds up to a great way to unwind after a long day of work!

I love going to the Bulls games! I try to go as often as I can, and I'm always excited when the new season starts.

We usually go to Friday night games, because I love seeing the fantastic fireworks show. And, going to a game is a great way to kick off the weekend.

I usually take my husband, Wesley; other times we'll take a couple of our friends and hang out. Partly why I love it so much is that you can just hang out. You can watch the game, you can people-watch, you can get really fantastic food. Even standing in line for fried pickles (which by the way are really delicious!) or all kinds of delicious treats (even delicious vegetarian options!) you can make new friends.

Another great thing about going to a game is meandering around ATC after the game ends. We always slowly make our way along the paths, looking at the art in the halls, maybe playing checkers, finding really interesting books at the Book Nook, playing Frisbee on the lawn, and just enjoying the peacefulness. It's just very lovely. So, even if you're undecided about baseball, go to a game anyway. It's fun!
