YouTube provides access to a sensational form of videos. YouTube introduced its 360-degree video function in early 2015, which enables you to upload videos that show the surrounding area from all perspectives. The latest version of the YouTube app takes the video experience on the YouTube portal to another level: downloading the latest version of the app allows users to select a new function the VR (virtual reality) mode. It enables you to watch 360-degree movies with the ZEISS VR ONE glasses and experience a deceptively real environment. "You can also watch 360-degree videos on a PC. However, the ZEISS VR ONE offers a totally new visual video experience. This is due in particular to the 3D effect created by the VR glasses which is not possible on a PC," describes ZEISS VR ONE product manager Franz Troppenhagen. This is because the camera perspective moves with the viewing direction of users to allow them to look around freely. "The ZEISS VR ONE is ideal for the 360-degree video function on YouTube and can thus further expand the enormous potential of VR glasses," continues Troppenhagen.

A totally new 360-degree video experience

The procedure is rather simple. You only need the latest version of the YouTube app and one of the many 360-degree videos on YouTube. Users only have to click the glasses symbol to show the video in the side-by-side format. The virtual experience begins as soon as the smartphone is placed in the ZEISS VR ONE which enables to intuitively experience a new perspective by turning their heads. "It is a new way to enjoy art, videos, movies or talk shows, and whets your appetite for more while delivering added value," states Troppenhagen. "The ZEISS VR ONE glasses are also easy to use for eyeglass wearers, making them a portable, everyday player for anyone."

YouTube expands 360-degree portal

Until now, the 360-degree video app has only been available for Android devices. From helicopter flights to virtual base jumps and mountain climbing almost anything is possible. 360-degree videos with the VR mode are added to YouTube daily and are just waiting to be discovered by ZEISS VR ONE users.
