List for imported foods in 06 iued

According to the recently issued list of imported foods in 2016 by Ningbo Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the most popular imported food category for Ningbo citizens is aquatic products, and the other nine of the top ten categories are meat products, wine & liquor products, diary products, grain and grain products, drinks, fats and oils, nuts, sugar products, and vegetable and vegetable products. With the large logistics network and the complete cold-chain logistics facilities of the entry port, the imported seafood products are most popular among the citizens. Since Ningbo Airport was approved as the port for imported icy aquatic products, more delicious seafood have been imported via the port, including the red shrimp from Argentina, lobster from Canada and salmon from Norway. In 2016, the amount of imported aquatic products via the entry port exceeded 70,000 tons with a total value of US$176 million, up by 18.9% over the previous year. In terms of the categories, the fish products, shrimp products and cephalopods are the major types. For example, the imported tuna reached 40,600 tons with a value of US$560 million; the imported shrimp products reached 9200 tons, up by 93.0% over the previous year; while the volume of such cephalopods as squids and cuttlefish decreased by about 15,000 tons over the previous year. The meat products stood at the second place. Due to the low level of the domestic intensive husbandry and high breeding costs, the imports of the meat products have witnessed leap-forward growth. In 2016, Ningbo imported 61,000 tons of meat products, with an import value of US$129 million, up by 150% and 119% respectively, hitting the historical high. The major products are the frozen pork and beef, mainly from the US, the EU, Brazil and Australia. Then come the wine and liquor products. In 2016, the volume of the imported wine and liquor products reached US$119 million, up by 22.1% over the previous year. Among others, the value of the imported wine stood at US$70 million, up by 63.1%, mainly from France, Australia, Spain, Chile and Italy. However, both the amount and value of the dairy products decreased. In 2016, the value of the imported dairy products via Ningbo entry port reached US$94.49 million, down by 6.18%, while the amount reached 26,000 tons, up by 4.5%. It is noticeable that despite the lower rank, the cake, biscuit and canned products have a big potential for growth. In 2016, Ningbo imported 1576 tons of cake and biscuit products, with a total value of US$6.583 million, up by 104.4% and 60% respectively. The most popular imported biscuit products include the chocolate cookies from Germany, the finger biscuits from Italy and the wafer biscuits from Indonesia.
