Thomson Broadcast (IBC Booth 8.C35) today announced the launch of its medium-power broadband transmitter range, complementing the new low-power range and the established Futhura high-power transmitters. The new medium-power range offers high efficiency combined with complete flexibility for easy installation and versatile performance in any location.
Available in versions from 200W to 3000W RMS, this medium-power range is suitable for any initial digital roll-out or network extension following an initial Futhura high-power deployment. The transmitters offer exceptional power density, with eight 2RU power amplifiers providing up to the maximum 3kW output power. High efficiency is enhanced by the guaranteed performance delivered by Thomson's fully automatic real-time Digital Adaptive Pre-correction (DAP), which corrects linear and non-linear distortions.
The transmitters achieve operational savings by delivering total wideband capability over the UHF band, and allowing frequency changes to be quickly configured for a flexible transmission system. With the dualcast DVB-T/DVB-T2 option, DVB-T2 migration is easily achievable through a single push button.
The high-power Futhura range shares the same exciter as the medium-power range for optimized spare parts inventory. This field-proven exciter includes advanced features such as 64 Physical Layer Pipes, allowing networks to separately adjust the robustness of each delivered service within a channel to meet the required reception conditions for mobile, indoor or fixed reception. This leading-edge exciter also features Tone Reservation in order to improve the transmitter efficiency.
Modular and easily scalable, this very flexible transmitter range adapts easily to any installation, in any conditions. To optimize the transmission site, the range accommodates up to six autonomous multiplexed transmitters in a single cabinet. Built-in ventilation or external ventilation with outside rejection enhances this flexibility and reduces the requirement for site maintenance through dust-proof design without air filters, in keeping with Thomson's install and forget' philosophy.
This new medium-power power dense range completes our Futhura energy-efficient series, said Pascal Veillat, Chairman of Arelis Group. Customers can now deploy environmentally-friendly networks and minimize transmission site rental costs especially with the multi-transmitter capability. The extreme flexibility of our architecture has already been proven with the previous medium-power reference Elite 100 Greenpower, and this new range is the best combination of successful power-efficient technologies and a well-proven design.
