NEW Vimond Open Application Frameworks
At IBC2013, Vimond will demonstrate its collection of licensed development frameworks that enable customers to build great end-user experiences for phones, tablets, Macs, PCs, set-top-boxes, and more. The frameworks, which are implemented on Vimond APIs, are built specifically so that a broad variety of portals can take advantage of the feature-rich Vimond Platform. Each framework acts as a layer between an API and a portal, tying everything together for a rich viewer experience in a shorter time to market.
Vimond application frameworks make it possible for Vimond customers to have full control over their portal development for iOS and Android devices, the Web, connected TVs, and other screens without having in-depth knowledge of Vimonds APIs.
NEW Monetization Features: Product Packaging and Ad Cue Points
Also on display at IBC2013 will be two new features of the Vimond Platforms Monetization Engine, the underlying technology that drives monetization activities on the Vimond Platform. Users administer the new features through the Vimond Control Center (VCC), the Web interface for managing the Vimond Platforms video workflow.
The new Product Packaging feature makes it easy for publishers and service providers to bundle channels and package content into sellable products in one simple, intuitive interface. Editors can choose freely which channels should be included in which packages and set the prices they prefer. Because VCC offers multitenant support, multiple publishers on a service can each set up their own subscription packages and pricing independent of each other.
Another new monetization feature is Ad Cue Points, which are markers on the timeline that serve as cues to the VCC media player on where to insert ads. With Ad Cue Points, content publishers can choose where to insert advertisements into live and on-demand streams by simply clicking on the video timeline. This feature saves time and gives editors maximum control over ad timing, making it easier for the publisher to create revenue from online advertising by placing the ads strategically. Once inserted, the ad cue points can be adjusted or fine-tuned in VCC.
NEW Automation Features: Video Importer and Content Catalogue
The Vimond Video Flow Engine, which serves as the core technology behind the Vimond Platforms online video services, has two new automation features that will be on display at IBC2013. Both features are managed through the Vimond Control Center (VCC), Vimonds video workflow management tool.
The Video Importer saves time and effort by automatically importing assets directly into VCC from broadcast or media asset management systems, or from online sources such as YouTube . From there it transcodes the video and can then distribute new content to channels automatically depending on the rules that are set. Also, the system will automatically detect and import new assets and/or changes to existing assets. The Video Importer has its own GUI along with a status display to show that jobs are being completed. VCC monitors the feeds and delivers error messages for failed imports.
The new Content Catalogue feature gives users greater control over how to organize their assets. A new, easy-to-use interface in VCC makes it even easier for publishers to create and maintain their content catalogues and organize their content in a hierarchy of channels and shows, so that they can push certain content to the top of end users list of suggested programming.
Live Event Workflow Demo Live to On Demand in Seconds
The Vimond live event workflow is powered by Vimonds Video Flow Engine, the core technology that drives the Vimond Platform for over-the-top video. At IBC2013, Vimond will demonstrate this live event workflow. By the end of the 60-minute demonstration, attendees will know how the Video Flow Engine brings all the elements of the Vimond Platform together to create a portal on the fly, from ingest through publication.
Using an on-stage camera to import, encode, transcode, and index the live feed directly, Vimond will show how the Video Flow Engine turns a live feed into an on-demand product, including indexing, packaging the clip, inserting ads, and more. Attendees will see how Vimond imports large volumes of on-demand content in an automated workflow and distributes it to all platforms using Vimonds open frameworks - through a portal that has been created before their eyes.
