Houston: Amazon Has Lift-Off on New Fulfillment Center

Amazon's seventh Texas facility will create more than 1,000 new full-time jobs

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 22, 2016-- Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced plans to open its seventh Texas fulfillment center in Houston. Amazon currently employs more than 10,000 full-time hourly associates at its five operating Texas fulfillment centers and plans to create 1,000 more full-time positions at the new Houston site. Elsewhere in the Lone Star State, Amazon currently operates fulfillment centers in Coppell, Haslet, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Schertz, with an upcoming facility in San Marcos currently under construction.

Amazon employees at the 855,000-square-foot Houston fulfillment center will pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.

Full-time employees at Amazon receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, 401(k) and company stock awards, starting on day one.
