Harris Corporations Cindy Kane Named a 2013 Alumna of Distinction by the University of Florida

MELBOURNE, Florida, May 16, 2013 Cindy Kane, director of Corporate Relations for Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), has been named a 2013 Alumna of Distinction by the University of Floridas College of Journalism and Communications. Kane and five other awardees were recognized at the colleges annual awards banquet in April. With more than 30,000 graduates with degrees in advertising, journalism, public relations and telecommunications, only 131 individuals have been selected to receive this honor since its creation in 1970. Kane was recognized for her accomplishments in the business community and her work with government, education and non-profit organizations. In her current position at Harris, she is responsible for community relations, university relations, K-12 outreach, the Harris Foundation, the companys Customer Briefing Center, and state and local government relations for the corporation. Kanes work with the Florida Chamber of Commerce led to an appointment by the Speaker of the House to sit on the Workforce Safety Committee for recommendations for ensuring safety of state employees. Due to her volunteer work with children at risk, she served on the board for adoption reform in the state of Florida, and was appointed to Governor Rick Scotts transition team for the Department of Children and Families. Previous recognitions include being named one of the 100 most influential business leaders by Spacecoast Business magazine, Child Advocate of the Year for Brevard County, and recipient of the Harris Corporate Citizenship Award.
