The LOTTO is one of the most popular games in South Africa, which you can play through their mobile app, banking channels, at any participating retailers. But what does it take to win and walk away with that jackpot whether you're playing for the regular draw or the Powerball?

There are four things that every lottery winner does!

Here's a look at four things that can get you closer to that LOTTO jackpot this week.

1. LOTTO: Buy your ticket The first thing you have to do if you want to be a LOTTO winner, is to buy your ticket in the first place!

Ticket entries are what enters you into the next draw, whether it's for the Daily Game or Powerball. Even if you guess the numbers right, there's nothing you can do about it if you haven't bought your ticket.

National lottery entries are available via their app or website, but also through banking channels and select retailers.

2. Watch the LOTTO draw National Lottery numbers are announced at specific draw times, and most lottery winners sit down to watch the draw for their purchased ticket.

There's just something exciting about seeing your numbers show up, especially if they're the correct ones to match your ticket.

Official wins can only be claimed and verified if you contact them, although some wins played via banking apps can be paid to your account automatically.
