FIS Blue Targets Harsh-Environment Applications with Fiber Optics

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome FIS Blue as a corporate sponsor. Headquartered at the FIS Research Park in Oriskany, NY, FIS Blue manufactures and supplies fiber optics for harsh-environment broadcast and military applications. The company's employees have decades of experience meeting the broadcasters' needs for specialized cabling and connectivity equipment.

When it was mandated that U.S. broadcasters switch to digital broadcasting, FIS Blue was established as a Fiber Instrument Sales affiliate to help make the transition seamless. Over the years, FIS Blue has earned the trust of all major broadcast networks as well as U.S. and Canadian government agencies.

We wanted to become involved with SVG so we can listen to the challenges, get a deeper understanding about the needs of the sports-video industry, and be able to share our leading-edge fiber-optic technology with the group, says CEO Valerie Sitler. We have manufactured and supplied a variety of sports networks, studios, arenas, stadiums, and mobile units with their fiber-optic needs. We are very excited to be part of the SVG.

FIS Blue has been awarded its own GSA contract number to facilitate the growing number of U.S. government contracts being awarded to the company. Its product line includes cable assemblies that can withstand rough handling and harsh outdoor environments, which are typical of both broadcasting and military uses.

Products include hybrid fiber/copper cable assemblies, expanded-beam connectors, TFOCA-style military connectors, and termini-style cable assemblies. In addition, FIS Blue offers SMPTE-ready cabling and test equipment; fast lead time on cable assemblies in the industry; broad selection of cleaning kits for fiber optics; large inventory of products for immediate shipment; custom manufacturing; technical support; and repair service.

FIS Blue facilities consist of more than 9,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping operations.
