Ster-Kinekor host SA premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

The red carpet dazzled with stars as South Africa's glitterati came out to welcome home, and pay tribute to, the high-profile cast and crew of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

It was only fitting that the premiere for a film that honours one of the world's global icons, who came from humble beginnings in the Eastern Cape, should be celebrated on home soil.

The star-studded premiere, which was attended by the two international stars of the film, Idris Elba and Naomie Harris (who play the roles of Nelson and Winnie Mandela respectively), was hosted by Ster-Kinekor Theatres and The Zone in Rosebank. The entire cinema complex, and large sections of The Zone shopping centre, were cordoned off to accommodate the function and to ensure a high level of security for the actors and VIP guests.
