Fujifilm take advanced visualisation to a new level with Synapse 3D

Fujifilm is a pioneer in diagnostic imaging and information systems for healthcare, with a range of constantly evolving, clinically proven, products and technologies designed to assist medical professionals perform efficiently and effectively. The company is now taking advanced visualisation analysis to a new level, with Synapse 3D.

Synapse 3D is vendor-neutral, multi-modality capable and can be used with virtually any advanced imaging system, such as PET, CT, MR and nuclear medicine. Included in the suite of radiology applications is a vast array of diagnostic clinical tools ranging from 2D, 3D, and 4D viewing, to Dynamic Data and Fusion (including PET, MR, CT and SPECT).

The PET-CT Viewer allows the option of four different SUV calculations to accommodate customer choices: Lean Body Mass (LBM), Body Weight (BW), Body Surface Area (BSA) and Ideal Body Weight (IBW). This enhances workflow efficiency as the SUV algorithms can be set as a preference and/or changed within the application tool.

The advanced application has been used for multiple clinical trials related to nuclear medicine and fusion with positive results. In a study by Toshiaki Kadokami et al, at Saiseikai Futsukaichi Hospital on diagnostic performance of cardiac fusion images from myocardial perfusion imaging and multislice computed coronary angiography, it was concluded that fusion images obtained from Synapse 3D were superior to CTCA images alone for detecting hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease 1

The potential of Synapse 3D in cardiac imaging was again highlighted by Tokyo Medical University in a recent paper the relationship between culprit vessels and ischemic regions via SPECT/CTA fusion imaging using 3D workstations such as Synapse 3D provides great advantage in developing intervention strategy for revascularization. 2

Synapse 3D has proven to be an incredibly valuable tool during our research, particularly its PET-MR fusion capabilities for diagnosing epilepsy and the utility of neurovascular calcium scoring for predicting stroke, said Meng Law, MD, Director of Neuroradiology, LAC+USC Healthcare Network.
