
Six business groups comprises half of Europe pay TV subscribers Deutsche Telekom, Liberty Global, Orange, Sky, Viasat y Vivendi acumulan el 50 por ciento de los suscriptores de televisi n de pago en la Uni n Europea.
A lo largo de un informe de 56 p ginas el European Audiovisual Observatory ha hecho p blico un informe en el que analiza la influencia de los grupo de comunicaci n paneuropeos incluidos en la base de datos MAVISE en relaci n al mercado broadcast y la distribuci n de contenidos.
El informe analiza nueve grupos pan-europeos y su impacto en una treintena de pa ses. Los dos grandes grupos broadcast re nen una media del 51 por ciento de la audiencia, y los tres, el 64 por ciento, con fuertes variaciones entre los pa ses.
El Observatorio Audiovisual Europeo distingue entre aquellos grupos que siguen un modelo de emisi n multi-pa s , ofreciendo diferentes canales en abierto, y los que se basan en una estrategia m s paneuropea , con fuertes marcas de canales disponibles en toda Europa.
Los mercados nacionales de distribuci n se han vuelto m s concentrados entre 2011 y 2014. Junto con la consolidaci n a nivel nacional, la industria ha visto a sus jugadores ampliar sus mbitos geogr ficos, adquirir a los principales players nacionales y aumentar la consolidaci n cruzada entre las compa as de telecomunicaciones y de cable , a adi .
Los grupos de canales con marca pan-europea y los principales canales de televisi n de pago pertenecen a 13 compa as: 21st Century Fox, AMC Networks, Bonnier, Discovery Communications, NBC Universal, Scripps Networks, Sony Corporation, Time Warner, United Media Group, Viacom, Viasat, Vivendi, y Walt Disney. Nueve de estas compa as son subsdiarias de grupos estadounidenses y se est n desarrollando de manera vertical: compran canales nacionales para poner su marca; crean jont ventures con compa as de distribuci n con m sculo; aumentan su participaci n en compa as de producci n televisiva; adquieren derechos deportivos; y lanzan servicios bajo demanda.
El Observatorio destaca que el 68 por ciento de los hogares con televisi n de pago en la Uni n Europea recibe los canales de 15 grupos audiovisuales pan-europeos dedicados a la distribuci n. Deutsche Telekom, Liberty Global, Orange, Sky, Viasat y Vivendi acumulan el 50 por ciento de los suscriptores de televisi n de pago en la Uni n Europea.
