Grass Valley Unveils New Game-Changing Switcher Products for Enhanced Production Efficiency

13/09/2024

Targeted at low-to-mid tier productions, the new products set new standards for enhanced flexibility, performance and value.

MONTREAL, CANADA -September 13, 2024 - Grass Valley, the leading innovator for live production solutions, is delighted to announce the launch of the K-Frame VXP Video Processing Frame, Karrera V2 Switcher Control Panel, and the introduction of Sport Producer X at IBC 2024. The new innovations are designed to meet the evolving needs of low-to-mid tier production environments, providing industry-leading functionality, flexibility, and efficiency.

Compact Powerhouse for Uncompromised Production

The K-Frame VXP is the newest addition to Grass Valley's renowned K-Frame XP family, offering enterprise-grade production switcher capabilities in a compact 5RU chassis. Ideal for venues, stadiums, houses of worship, fly packs, smaller OB vans and small to mid-tier production events, K-Frame VXP delivers the full power of Grass Valley's advanced video processing technology without compromising on format flexibility, processing power, or I/O capacity when moving between HD and UHD productions.

Key upgrades on the current K-Frame V-Series include:

Up to 48x24 Native UHD I/O: Supports UHD 4K 2160p, HD, and 1080p 3G formats for consistent, high-quality production across all resolutions.

Choice of VPE Board type: Configurable with either maximum 4M/Es, each with 4 Keyers and 2D DPM; or maximum 3M/Es, each with 6 Keyers and 2D DPM with perspective.

Internal ImageStore: Up to 64GB of storage for stills and movies with audio.

Comprehensive I/O Conversion: Conversion on all SDI inputs and outputs, with frame syncs on all inputs, ensuring seamless integration and superior performance, including custom LUT HDR-SDR conversion.

Internal Multiviewers and optional 3D DPMs

The K-Frame VXP supports all K-Frame control panels, including the new Karrera V2 surface.

High-End Interface, Budget-Conscious Pricing

In response to overwhelming demand, Grass Valley is introducing the Karrera V2 Control Panel, an end-user favorite renowned for their user-friendly interface and robust performance. Available as either a 2-stripe or 3-stripe surface, Karrera V2 panels are designed to drive any of the K-Frame Video Processing Frames, offering a familiar, high-end user experience at a more accessible price point.

Upgrade highlights include the new 8-keyer transition module, as found in the new Kayenne surfaces, including tactile buttons and an intuitive touchscreen interface. The Karrera V2 also includes the same menu display and MCU processor unit as the Kayenne panel. The Karrera V2's versatility makes it ideal for venues, stadiums and other mid-tier production settings, or tighter control room desk environments offering high-end production value in a more affordable package.

All-in-One Production Solution

Sport Producer X is the latest AMPP application solution that combines production switching, replay, graphics, audio production, and multiviewers into a single, intuitive interface. Designed for small to mid-tier live productions, Sport Producer X provides the power and flexibility needed to streamline production workflows, all within a single operational seat.

Key features include:

Single-Seat Production Interface: Intuitive, gesture-based control for switcher operations, replay, and graphics, with fully end-user customizable layouts to fit the production needs.

Comprehensive Workflow Integration: Integrating with both software and tactile surfaces, plus macro recall capabilities for seamless replay wipes and synchronized recall.

Flexible Deployment: SaaS model, format-agnostic, offering agility and scalability for seasonal and event-based productions.

Greg Huttie, Vice President for Switchers at Grass Valley, comments: K-Frame VXP and Sport Producer X cater to a growing market segment that requires the efficiency and capabilities of enterprise-grade production tools with an accessible price point. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions that empower our customers to create outstanding content for engaging storytelling, no matter the scale or budget and these products deliver on that commitment all while leveraging core technology across our enterprise-grade Switcher portfolio.

These new products were developed in response to the increasing demand for cost-effective yet high-performance production solutions. With K-Frame VXP, Karrera V2 panels, and Sport Producer X, we are setting new standards for flexibility, performance, and value in the live production industry.

K-Frame VXP will be on display at IBC 2024 and made available to order post-IBC, shipping in April 2025. Karrera V2 control panels will also be available to order post-IBC, shipping in January 2025. Sport Producer X will be fully demonstrated at IBC and available in the AMPP App Store later this year.

Come and experience the entire Grass Valley ecosystem and meet with our team at stand 9.A01 at IBC 2024, from September 13th to 16th at the Amsterdam RAI exhibition and conference center.
