Wednesday, May 27
4:00 - 5:30 p.m.: SVGW Meet-Up
SVGW is a networking group that aims to enhance the role of women in the creation, production, and distribution of sports content. Members work for sports leagues, teams, television networks, technology companies, and startups and focus on the business and technology behind sports production. Attendees are invited to listen, learn, exchange ideas and best practices, and meet other women in the industry.
5:30 - 7:00 p.m.: Opening Night Welcome Reception
Kick off the 2020 SVG College Summit and reconnect with your industry peers among the latest in sports-video technology in our welcome reception in the Technology Showcase hall.
Thursday, May 28
9:50 - 10:10 a.m.; 11:40 a.m. - noon; and 3:45 - 4:05 p.m.: Exposing More Sports Through Technology: Production Blueprint Series
As video departments master the ability to broadcast traditional team sports, innovative minds are looking for new ways to expand programming offerings and serve their athletic department by delivering more sports than ever before. Some events, however, are substantially more challenging to broadcast than others. In the Production Blueprint series, live-content creators give you their experiences in broadcasting those sports that require a special level of expertise. (Sport and Presenter TBA)
10:55 - 11:40 a.m.: The Industry Roadmap: Forecasting Where Broadcast Tech Is Headed
While today's challenges need to be met, the future is never far away - especially in this industry. So what's next? Is it 1080p? Where does high dynamic range (HDR) come in? How seriously should you take 4K? And what about graphics? How will athletic departments be expected to deliver live events - and other forms of content - to their broadcast partners in the near future? Pros from the network and technology-vendor ranks share their roadmaps for broadcast's future and help you anticipate how to make your equipment investments wisely.
1:30 - 2:00 p.m.: No Place Like Home: The Continued Shift to Centralization Through IP
As at-home models become more commonplace in sports production, college campuses are perfectly suited for centralized live event production. With IP technologies making that centralization more realistic and cost-efficient than ever, how can you set up your athletic department's infrastructure for campus-wide success?
2:15 - 3:00 p.m.: Next Level: Strategies and Tech For Integrating Deeper Storytelling Into Live Event Production
While the core tenet of any live sports broadcast is to deliver the game to the viewer, content creators these days are looking for new ways to better tell the story of not only the score but also the athletes, coaches, and campus life behind each program. Whether it's through technology (graphics, replay, cameras, lenses, microphones, connectivity) or strategy (relationships with coaches, on-air talent, SIDs), how are college sports broadcasters taking the live game to the next level to develop deeper affinities among viewers?
4:05 4:40 p.m.: Lifeblood: Recruiting, Training, and Inspiring Students and Interns
No athletic department video team can meet the demanding scale of live event and creative-video-content production without the help of a deep and effective student staff. How do you go about recruiting students? How do you train them? And how do you build a culture where your finest students shine - and even lead the way?
Friday, May 29 SVG College: Social Showcase
This year's Friday-morning workshop is dedicated to video-content-creation strategy and execution on major social-media platforms. As the lines blur between live production and creative within athletic departments, many are looking to take a more streamlined approach to video content. However, that doesn't mean that each social-media platform still doesn't possess its own inherent qualities and paths to video success. Break down standards and best practices in content ideation, staff organization, and gear deployment in this in-depth workshop that will surely bolster your team's engagement.
9:45 - 10:45 a.m.: Hype and Heroes: Advice From the Front Lines of Championship Social Video
Engagement through highly produced video for social media continues to skyrocket, with innovative athletic departments finding new and captivating ways to tell their stories, interest recruits, and entice longtime supporters. There's no better time to capitalize on the hype arou
