Launch today of the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards 06

tve today launches a global call for entries to the fifth tve Global Sustainability Film Awards. The competition, which invites companies to showcase their own films about how they are driving environmental and social change, will culminate in a glittering awards ceremony on 28 November 2016 in the Princess Anne Theatre at BAFTA in London's Piccadilly. Companies can enter via the awards website.

This year's President of the Awards is tve trustee Mei Sim Lai OBE. Mei Sim is managing director of LaiPeters Ltd and founder of LaiPeters & Co, chartered accountants. In 2011 she became Master of the Worshipful Company of World Traders, the first Chinese person to be Master of a City Livery Company in the history of the City of London. Since 2006 she has been one of The Queen's representatives in Greater London with responsibility for Brent.

Chair of Judges for the third year is Nick Nuttall, Head of Communications and Spokesperson at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) headquartered in Bonn, Germany.

Companies are invited to enter films into three new categories focusing on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals launched in 2015. A fourth new category will focus on companies leading the way in their ambitions to achieve a net-positive impact for the planet and communities.

Mei Sim Lai said: I have seen over the last four years how the Awards have grown in impact. From the audience in the theatre at BAFTA on the night all the way through to the excited tweets and the television broadcast, tve fulfils its mission to inspire change for a greener fairer world through these Global Sustainability Film Awards. I am honoured and delighted to be President for this fifth year of the Awards.'

Nick Nuttall said: tve is again taking an important lead in the debate about how companies are driving sustainable businesses against the backdrop of the new Sustainable Development Goals and the landmark Paris climate change agreement of 2015. The Awards provide a really constructive platform for sharing innovative thinking by companies, and I'm delighted to be chairing the judging panel for a third year.'

The categories are Transforming Society, Protecting the Environment and Reshaping the Economy. There is a fourth, new award: The net-positive leadership Award.
