Lyndon State College, a Vermont liberal arts and professional studies school recently upgraded to HD in an expansive way, choosing two new Ikegami HC-HD300 Affordable CMOS Camera Systems for their popular program in Electronic Journalism Arts.
A busy student-operated news facility is at the heart of the Lyndon State College program, producing a nightly live newscast on par with a small-market affiliate. Instructing students how to perform camera setup is the most important aspect of studio production that we teach, says Darlene Ballou, Director of broadcast operations for Lyndon State College. We felt that our students needed to learn on high-end cameras, and the Ikegami HC-HD300 fit the bill 100%: It met all of our goals for image quality, budget, and technical specifications.
With the Ikegami HC-HD300 on set, Lyndon State College's students are getting an education on the imagery that world-class cameras can achieve. Our jaws dropped the first time we saw the pictures from these cameras ? it was truly amazing, Ballou says. Everyone here, the students and faculty, have been thrilled with the results that we're getting onscreen. The viewing audience has also made very positive comments since we made the switch.
Before the faculty could start teaching students how to set up and operate the Ikegami HC-HD300, they needed to learn themselves. The training that we received was exceptional, Ballou notes. The dynamic range that Ikegami's engineer helped us to achieve was far beyond anything we'd experienced before. Their training really helped us to pull the best quality out of these cameras.
Ideal for broadcast TV stations, as well as educational, corporate and house of worship applications, the highly versatile Ikegami HC-HD300 also works in conjunction with a camera control system consisting of the FA-300 Fiber Adapter and BSF-300 Base Station, utilizing OpticalCON DUO connectors and SMPTE hybrid fiber/copper camera cable.
