Dome, Bell Media and Rogers Media Announce HDR Trial of HLG Standard

Dome Productions, along with broadcast partners Bell Media and Rogers Media, today announced the trialing of HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) as a development format in delivering HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.

HLG is a royalty-free HDR standard proposed by both the BBC and NHK for live productions. Dome Productions and its broadcast partners strongly support the introduction of HDR to enhance the overall viewing experience for the consumer.

HLG presents an SDR backward compatibility that could deliver a single signal/stream solution for both HDR and non-HDR television sets. This will be a benefit to broadcasters as they will not need to create two different delivery systems.
