PlayBox Technology Experiences riving Busine at Record-Breaking NAB New York

PlayBox Technology reports very positive reaction to its Neo and CloudAir broadcast channel branding and playout solutions among delegates attending the 2016 NAB Show New York. Preliminary registered attendance indicate that the November 9-10 event at the Javits Center attracted a record-breaking 15,404 visitors, nearly 30 per cent up on the equivalent 2015 figure.

NAB New York was a fantastic exhibition for us, says PlayBox Technology US director of operations Van Duke. Largely a regional exhibition during its years as Content & Communications World, the shows acquisition by the US National Association of Broadcasters and rebranding under the NAB banner have increased its credibility to the point where it is now a true sister event to the annual April NAB convention in Las Vegas. The hitherto predominantly US East Coast attendance was supplemented this year by visitors from a much wider catchment area including the West Coast and Mid-West states as well as Latin America and Africa. We experienced excellent booth traffic on both days of NAB New York with a very high level of interest in our Neo product range of CloudAir software-as-a-service offering.

Visitors with existing AirBox systems were keen to discuss the merits of upgrading to the Neo series, which they can do very easily and cost-efficiently, comments PlayBox Technology chief executive officer Pavel Rahnev. They also recognised the potential of combining Neo and with CloudAir which opens the prospect of a tremendous increase in operational flexibility. We recently delivered our first Neo/CloudAir hybrid to Albanian broadcaster and IPTV service-provider Tring TV where it is handling playout of 27 television channels. The combined system integrates virtual playout plus the best of both worlds in terms of SDI and IP workflow.

We are seeing very large numbers of customers upgrading their AirBox systems to Neo both in the USA and globally, adds PlayBox Technology president Don Ash. They are also becoming increasingly aware that the combination of Neo and CloudAir delivers unprecedented power and scalability without stretching the resources of an existing apparatus room. New channels can be added overnight, whether permanent or temporary, without placing heavy demands in terms of capital outlay. CloudAir also has tremendous potential as a standalone solution for offsite archiving, offsite emergency-recovery and special-interest channel streaming.
