Arqiva Wins Prestigious HR Excellence Award for Health & Wellbeing Strategy

Award-winning strategy built on programmes designed to address every aspect of wellbeing

06 December, 2024 - Winchester, UK. We are thrilled to announce that Arqiva has been named a winner at the HR Excellence Awards for our exceptional Health & Wellbeing Strategy. This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to supporting our people and fostering a culture where everyone can thrive, both personally and professionally.

At Arqiva, we believe that health and wellbeing form the cornerstone of an outstanding colleague experience. Guided by our five pillars of wellbeing - physical, professional, social, financial, and mental - we strive to create a supportive environment that empowers our people to bring their best selves to work while maintaining a fulfilling life outside of it.

Our award-winning strategy is built on innovative programmes and initiatives designed to address every aspect of wellbeing:

- Physical Wellbeing: We've implemented on-site health checks, gyms, physio sessions, at-home testing, and a wealth of educational resources. We also encouraged 52 colleagues to participate in a walking and running challenge, raising over £20,000 for charity while enhancing physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

- Professional Wellbeing: To support career growth, we've shared colleague success stories, provided career conversation guides, upskilled line managers, and covered professional memberships for 172 employees. Recognition through rewards and bonuses further demonstrates our commitment to professional development.

- Social Wellbeing: We've strengthened connections through on-site events, a paid volunteering day, and robust employee networks that include those providing support for working families, veterans, neurodivergent colleagues, and people navigating grief.

- Financial Wellbeing: In response to increasing financial concerns, we introduced new benefits and educational resources focused on financial health and mentoring, ensuring our people feel supported in managing their finances.

- Mental Wellbeing: From engagement surveys and regular team meetings to a network of trained managers and Mental Health First Aiders, our comprehensive approach has leadership's full support, with our CEO personally championing mental health.

These efforts have delivered measurable results. In 2023, 71% of our employees met recommended physical activity levels, up from 65% in 2022. Work-life balance satisfaction increased to 80%, exceeding benchmarks by 15%. Moreover, the proportion of employees who feel senior leadership values wellbeing rose dramatically from 58% to 78%.

Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at Arqiva, and I am incredibly proud of what we've accomplished as a team. This nomination and award are a testament to the collective effort of our colleagues who have embraced and shaped these initiatives. Together, we've created a culture where everyone feels supported and empowered to be their best, both at work and in life. It's an honour to see our commitment recognised in this way.
