Venue Production Workshop
Monday, Dec. 11
1:00 4:3o p.m.
1:00 1:45 p.m. Building a Broadcast-Friendly Sports Venue
Despite the importance of the at-home television broadcast, broadcasters often encounter difficulty getting their needs met when new sports venues are under construction. Following a successful start to the conversation at SVG's Chairman's Forum in April, experts reconvene at the SVG Summit to discuss the current challenges in building a broadcast-friendly venue and the steps SVG can take to improve the situation.
1:45 2:30 p.m. Case Study: Notre Dame: From IP Vision to Reality
Notre Dame recently opened the Rex and Alice A. Martin Media Center, a new IP-centric production facility. The path from vision to reality was full of blind curves as it required new thinking and conversations, new language and knowledge, and new designs and documentation. Hear about what it takes to go full-throttle into the new world of IP from the key technology partner and the project engineer, who committed two years to bring this project to life.
Presenters:
Brendan Cline, BeckTV, Senior Engineer
Scott Rinehart, University of Notre Dame, Director, Broadcast Technology
Vince Silvestri, Evertz, VP, Software Systems
2:30 2:45 p.m. Networking Break
2:45 3:30 p.m. The Latest in In-Venue LED Design and Integration
Often, the center-hung or end-zone video display is the first thing fans see when attending a game. As teams continue to push the limits of size and design, the back-end challenges increase as well. Hear how manufacturers, systems integrators, and teams are working in tandem to concept, build, and program an ever-widening range of in-venue displays - both traditional and non-traditional - and how they think in-venue video will evolve in the future. Will HDR ever be a factor?
3:30 4:00 p.m. Case Study: Inside the New York Giants' Multiplatform Season-Long 10-Year Anniversary Celebration of Super Bowl 42
The New York football Giants are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their 2007 season and Super Bowl 42 Championship throughout the entire 2017 schedule. The centerpiece was halftime of their Monday night game on September 18, where the entire team and coaching staff were honored and paid tribute in a special ceremony. The weekend of the game had special events every day all leading up to Monday night. The celebration continued across all the Giants media platforms, including content dedicated to the 10-year anniversary every game; special features designed for social and digital media; dedicated television programming and features all season long; and radio, publications, and events planned all year. The planning started over a year ago, as Giants camera crews traveled the country, interviewing and collecting hundreds of hours of content that were shot and edited.
Presenters:
Nilay Shah, New York Giants, Director, Digital Strategy
Don Sperling, New York Giants Entertainment, VP and Executive Producer
4:00 4:30 p.m. Control Room Design Update
As the brain of the entire video-production system, video-control rooms must be well organized to function properly. Conversations on layout, lighting, power, cooling, acoustics, and much more are pivotal to a well-run video control room. What should you consider when laying out a control room, designing the infrastructure, contemplating virtualized systems, and installing your video-production technology? Leading systems integrators weigh in on their best practices and biggest lessons learned in the field.
