At this year's JEC Composites Show in Paris, SGL Group The Carbon Company will present a series of novel exhibits focusing on innovative carbon fiber materials and system solutions made for strategic growth industries including civil engineering, industrial applications, aerospace and automotive. The company has expanded upon the unique properties of carbon fibers to generate more customer value compared to competing products comprised of established materials. This has resulted in a new generation of carbon fiber based products that will set new standards in excellence, performance and efficiency.

Dr. Jrgen Khler, Head of the Business Unit Carbon Fibers & Composite Materials: The carbon fibers based materials and new development projects we are presenting at the JEC have one thing in common they are all building on our strong core competencies along the value chain from the precursor to the composite component.The new products demonstrate the huge potential of carbon fiber based solutions in future applications and showcase the role of carbon in the materials substitutions trend.

For the first time, SGL Group is showcasing very fine stretch-broken carbon fiber yarns that are excellent for textile processing, thanks to their high tensile strength and low yarn count. Another SGL Group development relates to new high-performance belts made of flexible carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). These carbon fiber composite belts combine flexibility with high tensile strength and superior fatigue resistance. Additionally the company is focusing on carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics that can be used as structural materials in multi-material design, which is of special interest to the automotive area.

SGL Group is developing specially tailored material concepts for this field of application as well as lightweight, corrosion-free material concepts for civil engineering applications. Here, the company's CFRP tension elements offer a highly suitable alternative to established tension elements in structural reinforcement.
