Netflix ISP Speed Index for January 2024

Forty-six percent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) increased 0.2 Mbps and 52% stayed the same, resulting in a higher average speed this month on the Netflix ISP Speed Index, our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience.

Twenty-eight countries and regions were in the top performance tier for January: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States all registered an average speed of 3.2 Mbps.

Even though there were no significant ISP gains or notable changes to country averages, 57% of countries moved up 0.2 Mbps this month. Six ISPs saw noticeable drops since December's results. Algar Cable/DSL in Brazil and inter in Venezuela fell from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps. Netplus Broadband in India dropped from 2.8 to 2.6 Mbps, and PK in Pakistan decreased from 2.0 to 1.8 Mbps. Entel in Chile fell from 2.6 to 2.4 Mbps, and Softbank-DSL in Japan dropped from 3.0 to 2.8 Mbps.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Higher Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions.
