Our 4 Encoding.com Platform Release of 0!

We strive to continually roll out innovative new features that serve the needs of our customers. With that in mind, I'd like to announce our latest release. We've rolled out a ton of new features in our 4th production release of 2013, but don't take my word for it. Here they are:

Upgraded of our core encoding engine, providing 30-40% faster processing options for all high bitrate sources (over 2000 kbps). Check your queue today to see the difference!

New DRM support! We can now encrypt and register your content with a Flash Access License Server or PlayReady License server hosted by BuyDRM. Flash Access, along with HDS (or static flv/mp4) is still the leading DRM of choice for high value content targeted at the desktop and PlayReady is a fantastic DRM choice along with Smooth Streaming for Microsoft's existing XBox as well as the new XBox One coming out this fall.

Automated Platform Status System. Now you can integrate Encoding.com's realtime platform status into your application via JSON or XML API or receive automated notifcaitons of system events through resoltuon via email or Twitter. Check out the new status page for details.

Added limits for download/upload jobs. This is the limit for simultaneous videos that can be downloaded from your origin to our platform processing at any one time. Any new jobs sent when this limit has been reached will be queued until your account falls below the limit. Read about these limits on our pricing page.

Added support for special characters in filenames. This is a huge help to international customers with unique character sets.

Time code editing is now frame accurate. This allows users to edit on a frame by frame basis for far more accurate editing control. In addition to HH:MM:SS we've added an FF parameter for frames. Our API docs have all the info you need.

Implemented WebVTT closed captions which have now replaced ce-608 as the default closed caption spec within Apple's HTTP Live Streaming format. (see api docs)

Implemented caption to caption conversion Convert your source closed caption sidecar files (DXFP, WebVTT, SCC, SRT) between formats without the associated video file.

Improved cache-control and expiration options for Amazon S3 destinations Keep your content at edge locations longer than the 24 hour S3 default

Integration of Dolby Digital AC3, the most popular standard for 5.1 surround sound used for Blu-Ray and DVD and a great way to provide a multi channel audio experience for content targeted to connected television devices, Rokus, Boxees, AppleTVs, XBoxs, and other OTT devices.

Support for the XDCAM codec for QuickTime .mov output (see api docs)

Aspect ratio in Wowza Multi-Bitrate (SMIL) (see api docs)

Support for Mpeg2video video codec for mpegts (see api docs)

Support for Multichannel audio extraction (see api docs)

Suppport Ability to specify audio_minrate, audio_maxrate, audio_bufsize (see api docs)

Extended MediaInfo details for more info on your content

Disable EPSV for FTP URLs

Source (.mov) files with QuickTime timecode and menu tracks result in inconsistent duration and audio sync issues

Added ability to set FTYP for mp4 format

Monitor your accounts Vid.ly usage in EDC UI (add screen shot) providing historical vid.ly usage and consumption

Implemented Minified JS in the User Interface - this should improve user experience by making the interface more responsive
