Signiant supports companywide deployments with Auto Delivery, Metadata and Single-Sign On BURLINGTON, MA - April 1, 2015 - Signiant, the market leader in intelligent file movement software, today announced new features for its Media Shuttle hybrid SaaS file transfer solution in response to increased demand from enterprise customers. At many of the world's top media companies, Media Shuttle has become the solution of choice for sending and sharing large files fast. As these organizations standardize on Media Shuttle for all their user-initiated file transfer needs, several new features have been developed to address additional use cases and make it easy to on-board large numbers of employees.
Since its release in 2012, Media Shuttle has been adopted by companies of all sizes and has become the de facto standard across the global media supply chain. Signiant reports that the number of customers has more than doubled for the third consecutive year.
Large enterprises face unique challenges in providing their workforces with the right tools for moving big files, said Rick Clarkson, VP of Product Management at Signiant. Now that end users are gravitating to Media Shuttle for its ease of use and IT professionals recognize the power of our SaaS solutions, many of our customers are in the midst of enterprisewide deployments. We're pleased to support these large-scale rollouts with several exciting new features.
New features of Media Shuttle include Auto Delivery, Metadata and Single Sign-On:
Auto Delivery. As Media Shuttle is rolled out across the enterprise, use cases often emerge for unattended delivery. It may be possible to gain efficiencies by eliminating the need to manually check for new content or streamlining distribution of the same content to multiple partners. The new Auto Delivery feature provides this capability via a native application running on the end user's computer, along with a means of configuring folders for automatic upload or download. Auto Delivery is now in beta with general availability planned for the second quarter of 2015.
Metadata. This feature allows end users to populate predefined fields with information describing the file they are about to send. The experience is fully customizable, offering system administrators the ability to define fields for any parameter - often things such as file size, language or shooting location - to ensure that all of the necessary information is captured. The metadata remains associated with the file, making it easy for a person or process to take action upon receipt. For example, someone in the media library can archive the file in an appropriate category, or an automated workflow can send it to a particular distribution partner.
Single Sign-On using SAML. Media Shuttle now includes advanced identity management so that enterprises can easily and securely onboard and manage large numbers of users. Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) allows system administrators to engage a third-party Web identity provider to grant users access to multiple systems. This contemporary approach to enabling the use of a corporate directory for user authentication has benefits for both administrators and end users. Administrators can easily provision large user groups, and individual employees can simply log into Media Shuttle with their corporate account credentials. The fact that passwords are not stored in the cloud by Signiant adds one more level of protection for the customer's high-value digital assets.
