SBS celebrates 100 years of Le Tour with signature artworks

SBS has today announced the launch of Ten x Ten', an art project celebrating ten iconic moments in Tour de France history, created by and for Australias cycling community.

Ten unique illustrations have been designed by celebrated cycling artist Bruce Doscher, with each of the illustrations to be reproduced ten times to create 100 limited edition prints available for public sale and distribution. Proceeds from all sales will be donated to the Amy Gillett Foundation, a national charity with one purpose reducing the incidence of death and injury of bicycle riders.

SBS has determined the first nine moments, with the tenth Tour de France moment to be decided by the loyal fans of SBS' Cycling Central community via social media.

One single edition A1 print of each illustration will be auctioned online via a special ebay pop-up store and a number of A2 editions of each illustration will also be available for purchase through the Cycling Central shop.

The project will be promoted exclusively through the cycling community, with framed editions of each illustration first appearing in notable cycling stores, cafes and institutions throughout Sydney.

The Tour de France continues on SBS with live coverage from 10pm each night on SBS ONE from Saturday 29 June to Saturday 20 July. The final stage will be broadcast live from 2am Monday 22 July on SBS ONE with coverage beginning from 10pm on Sunday 21July in SBS ONE.

Auckland-based artist Bruce Doscher has always loved old cycling and travel posters, and is inspired by Art Deco poster art, the work of A.M. Cassandre and other artists of the 1920?s and 30?s.

About Amy Gillett Foundation

The Amy Gillett Foundation is a charity with one purpose reducing the incidence of death and injury of bike riders. The Foundation was born out of tragedy, the death of Amy Gillett, who was hit by an out of control motorist whilst cycling with her National Team mates in Germany. The Amy Gillett Foundation's mission is safe bicycle riding in Australia. Its vision is zero bicycle rider fatalities.
