The NFVF releases Q2 funding results --

--
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, has announced its Quarter 2 (Q2) funding results. The announcement follows the NFVF council meetings that took place on 31 August and 10 September 2015.
Fiction funding - Production:
During the Q1 funding period, 14 production applicants were provided with funding for the 2015/16 financial year. The number of applicants funded during this cycle demonstrates that the NFVF has exceeded its funding targets by four, as the annual target approved for Fiction production funding is ten. Therefore, during the Q2 evaluation process, no Fiction production applications were assessed as the target for the year had already been met.
For Q3, the NFVF encourages interested applicants to apply for Development and TV Formats funding as funds are still available for these two funding categories. All applicants that have applied for production funding for Q2 are urged to apply in the new fiscal year (2016/17).
Non-Fiction funding - Development
Due to the amount of quality applications received during Q2, 18 applications were provided with Development funding. The annual target approved for Development funding is 15, this means three more applications were funded, resulting in the NFVF exceeding its target by three. Therefore for Q3 Non-Fiction funding, the call for applications are open for Production and Documentary Archive only.
Markets and Festivals Attendance funding
For the Markets and Festivals Attendance funding, the NFVF has exceeded its target for the financial year 2015/16. The annual target is set at 48, however due to the increasing number and quality of applications received in Q1 and Q2, the NFVF funded 64 applicants, exceeding the target by 16.
Q3 funding call for applications
The NFVF is therefore seeking applicants for the following areas of funding:
Fiction
o Development funding
o TV Formats funding
Non-Fiction
o Production funding
o Documentary Archive
Markets and Festivals Attendance funding
As the target for the year has been exceeded, the NFVF will only consider filmmakers attending the following festivals for funding:
International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam
Rotterdam International Film Festival
Pan African Film Festival
RIO Content Market
Berlin International Film Festival
Festivals, Marketing and Distribution funding
For these funding categories, the NFVF will still accept applications for Q3.
Application forms can be accessed from the NFVF website.
All applications must be hand delivered or posted to the NFVF at 87 Central Street, Houghton, Johannesburg, 2198. No e-mail submissions will be accepted. The closing date for applications is on 17 October 2015. Please note that all applicants should provide a copy of a tax clearance certificate.
The NFVF will inform applicants of the outcome of the applications at the end of January 2016. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications received after the deadline will only be considered for the following quarterly meeting of council.
