Mash up together the greatest digital talent from across all industries, point your GPS to one of the coolest, most creative cities in the planet, spice it up with buzz happenings like the internet of things, combine it with the drive of visionary creative director, founder and entrepreneur George Hedon, and finish it off by smashing the most forward thinking partners and sponsors; what's the outcome? Pause Festival Melbourne.

For the second year, we've joined George as a partner in Australia's premier digital event. There's no doubt in my mind we should be part of Melbourne's digital scene, not the least of which is the sheer amount of talent gathered together in this tiny city far away from most places we know.

Each year, George and his team come up with a different and unique theme that not only drives the branding and the conferences, but also provides the inspiration for creative freedom to bust loose.

This years theme? Pure. Simple ideas that will change the world. It has me thinking of how much of the technology we put forward comes from very simple ideas that are then converted into mathematical algorithms. What can be more pure than that? I thought of the humble beginnings of The Foundry, where it all started at a pub with three geeky guys, a common goal and a creative vision.

The same passion that fueled our founders drives the committed individuals from Pause Fest, who want to change the digital landscape. Take a look at the world-class speakers, the number of events across the city, the branding, interactive installations, the cribs, the venues, and the magnificent flags waving outside FedSquare. You'd think that Pause Fest is a giant company with endless resources. It's not. But it's made up of a group of passionate people with a common goal. To me, Pause Fest is the disruptive new kid on the block that has positioned Melbourne as an innovation hub for every creative digital industry out there.

Finally, one part of the festival that I am extremely thrilled about is our involvement with some of the best talent on the planet to create the animations and opening titles for this year's festival. It was an amazing year of pure collaboration between Pause, The Foundry and the studios / freelancers that took on the challenge of working with us. Check out all of them here.
