Members elect internationally representative board to shape future direction of the industry's global association for suppliers of broadcast and media technology
IABM today announced the results of its biennial election of Board Directors. IABM was established over 40 years ago by its members and remains controlled by them, and the board is both made up of members and voted for by members. The IABM Board is responsible for the overall strategy of IABM, setting, reviewing and changing as necessary the policies of the association, which are then implemented by the IABM Team. The Members Board also exercises overall financial control.
The membership of the new IABM Members' Board reflects the international make up of IABM's membership; the newly elected members are:
Dr J rg Pohlman - ARRI
Kevin Usher - Avid
Nicki Fisher - Clear-Com
Muriel De Lathouwer - EVS Broadcast Equipment
Andreas Hilmer - Lawo
Alison Pavitt - Pebble Beach
Tim Felstead - SAM
Esther Mesas - Tedial
Anna Lockwood - Telstra
David MacGregor - TSL
The newly voted-in members join five remaining members (elected by the outgoing board for continuity): chair James Gilbert of Pixel Power, past-chair Jan Eveleens of Axon, Marco Lopez of Grass Valley Group, Glenn LeBrun of Imagine Communications and Peter Sykes of Sony. In addition, the chairs of the APAC and North America IABM Regional Councils - Dennis Breckenridge of Elevate Broadcast and Michael Accardi of CueScript respectively - also have seats on the Board. Vice chair Graham Pitman, IABM CEO Peter White and Finance Director Lucinda Meek complete the line-up.
The Members' Board plays a vital role in the continuing success of IABM, and the new board is a powerhouse of industry knowledge that represents the widest interests of the membership, said Peter White, IABM CEO. I'm looking forward to leveraging every ounce of its experience to keep driving the association forward with new ideas and initiatives to deliver ever more value and support for all our members.
It was pleasing to have so many nominations, creating a truly international board with members from all over the globe representing so many sectors of the broadcast and media industry, added Lucinda Meek, IABM Finance Director. It is also wonderful to be joined by so many women - a clear reflection of the balance of the industry today.
I am delighted and honored to serve as an IABM Board Member and I would like to thank the electorate for their confidence. I hope that the contribution from ARRI, a company with 100 years of technological experience in the media and film industry, will be of value to IABM. The board's responsibility is to set the right priorities and to provide information and guidance for the future direction of the industry. IABMs analysis, training and conferences are highly valuable to its members; that is why we decided to join IABM. I am very much looking forward to this new assignment.
Dr. J rg Pohlman, ARRI
I'm really looking forward to contribute to IABM. After analog and digital baseband, our industry is currently migrating to its 3rd generation of infrastructure. This includes not only IP technology but also software-defined processing, orchestration and seamless control of network resources, as well as smart, automated workflows. I simply call this Broadcast 3.0, and IABM is in the position to navigate both manufacturers and broadcasters through these challenging times.
Andreas Hilmer, Lawo
The IABM is uniquely placed to serve the needs of international broadcast and media suppliers, and its been encouraging to watch the range of services which it offers strengthen and grow in recent years. Im thrilled to be joining the Members Board at such a pivotal time for the vendor community, and look forward to making a positive and constructive contribution to the organisation as it continues to support the industry and the great people who work in it!
Alison Pavitt, Pebble Beach Systems
The broadcast industry has undergone a major transformation and we're now living in historical times. The internet has burst onto the scene, which has seen a fundamental shift in viewing habits that affects the entire broadcast chain, from consumer to manufacturers and suppliers. As well as changing consumer habits, this transformation affects the way that content is supplied. This change has been reflected in broadcast technology and in the traditional business model, challenging all companies that are part of the content supply chain. I'm very happy to be part of this fascinating transformation and enthusiastic about being selected to be on the IABM board, particularly in these challenging and visionary times.
Esther Mesas, Tedial
I am delighted to have been elected by my industry peers to serve on the IABM Members Board, representing Telstra. With the increasing global demand for content and alternative revenue streams, as well as the rapid convergence of traditional broadcast technology with IP/IT platforms and infrastructure, telecommunication and technology companies have growing relevance in the broadcast and professional media industry. Telstra has embraced this opportunity, significantly accelerating our focus and investment in media and broadcast enterprise services over the last few years, while also increasing our industry activity by joining key organisations such as IABM. As a newly elected member of the IABM Board, I look forward to representing Telstra and our industry on the Board, and to helping shape the future of IABM policy on important industry initiatives around technology innovation, women in media and technology, and education and training.
Anna Lockwood, Telstra
I am delighted that TSL has been re-elected and is able to continue its long involvement with the IABM working to improve the business environment of companie
